Here at Kids Can Ride we are big advocates for the use of harnesses, Riglet Reels and leashes to aid progression when teaching young children to snowboard.
When used correctly, parents can find them especially useful as they can give your child a ‘safety net’ as they tune their technique and learn to control their speed. And, of course, having momentum and some speed can be beneficial when learning to snowboard – it’s much harder to turn a snowboard when going very slowly – so adding speed in a controlled manner can be really helpful. Plus kids are able to explore more of the mountain quicker whilst using a harness.
So this said, we are always on the look out for new innovations and products within this area. And we were pretty excited when we saw the promo video for the MdxOne harness last winter. We liked the look of this harness/backpack combo so much we feature it on our Harnesses & Riglet Reel page and we were pleased to get in contact with Sylvain who created the MdxOne.
Sylvain was inspired to come up with his harness as he taught his young son to snowboard. It has a useful backpack with two handles – handles are a great way to pick up your child from the snow and keep a tight hold on them on lifts! And several points that you can attach the leash to the child which makes it ideal for progression.
Have a look at the promotional video and check out the website here and see what you think.
The MdxOne is a new product, available across Canada and America, but currently only through a small outlet in Verbier, in Europe. However, it can be ordered from Canada and we will of course keep you updated when they expand further into Europe.
